May 2011 - Diligentia: "We are very pleased with the result"

For many years the staff of the Flemingsberg police station in Sweden had suffered from disturbing noise levels in the combined canteen/conference hall. Previous attempt to eliminate the echo and reverberation using conventional insulation materials had not succeeded, partly due to the challenging industrial-type “saw tooth” profile of the ceiling.

The owner of the building suggested that the property management company, Diligentia, should contact Ovacon to solve the problem. Diligentia, one of Sweden's largest real estate companies, develops, manages and rents properties throughout Sweden's three growth regions: Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö.

Says Bengt Nilsson, technical administrator at Diligentia:

“The owner had heard about Ovacon solving a similar problem using spray-on insulation in a major parking garage nearby. So we checked up that installation on site, and then asked for a quotation for the police station. Within one week in January 2011 a 60 mm layer of glass wool was sprayed directly onto the surface. The noise level was measured with an “electronic ear” before and after the installation, and we are very pleased with the result.”

The electronic ear is a relatively simple but reliable devise used, for instance, to measure noise levels at daycare centers and in other sensitive environments. Results are shown instantly in the form of traffic light symbols, and in this case they changed all the way from a bright “red” to an equally bright “green”.

Equally convincing results were recently shown in the Trosa Kvarn restaurant. Here, the more detailed test protocol revealed that reverberation was reduced by nearly two thirds.
